Welcome to my website
Paterchurch Publications is the imprint of aviation writer and historian John Evans - acknowledged as a leading authority on maritime aviation in particular. A journalist by profession, John’s fascination with flying boats and the story of RAF Station Pembroke Dock developed when he came to live in the town well over 40 years ago.
He has been involved in heritage initiatives within the community for many years, including the well remembered Flying Boat Reunions and Theme Weeks in the 1980s and 1990s and the Gun Tower Museum which attracted thousands of visitors to the town, from all over the world.
In 2006, with three trustees, he set up the Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust which later opened the UK's only Flying Boat Centre. This has now developed into the Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre, located in the former Royal Dockyard Chapel, which has many displays and artefacts on flying boats, particularly the Short Sunderland. John was Project Manager for the Trust for ten years and is still very actively involved as Patron of the Pembroke Dock Heritage Trust.
John has, to date, written and published 11 books and also published several titles for other authors. With his wife Christine he now lives in his old family home in rural Pembrokeshire. They have three grown-up sons.
